I saw Star Trek over the weekend and I.LOVED.IT. I'm not a trekkie (although that may be about to change) and I'm not that into big, special effects extravaganzas, but I loved this movie. The hightlights for me included a terrific story (most movies of this genre don't even have a coherent story line) and the great chemistry between Kirk and Spock ( I wish they'd just kiss and get it over with. Seriously. I really wish that). I also loved Zachary Quinto's impressive performance, Winona Rider's touching turn as his mother, a bigger than expected role for Leonard Nimoy, and the hot supporting cast including Zoe Saldana (cool and sexy), Anton Yelchin (adorable!), Eric Bana, and Simon Pegg.
For my money, the hottest of the supporting players was John Cho . He played Sulu as sexy, smart, and heroic. I swooned over his swordfight scene with Chris Pine. No, it wasn't that kind of sword fight. Unfortunately.
Why doesn't he have his own superhero franchise?
And maybe a few romantic comedies, too.

Thanks for the recommendation. Spouse was a little surprised when I told him I'd like to see this in the theatre, as opposed to waiting for it to come to Netflix, which is my usual response.
