The local Dallas/Fort Worth press has done a pretty good job of reporting on the early Sunday morning raid of The Rainbow Lounge. For once, a gay story has been reported beyond The Dallas Voice, which has been excellent. You should read Jacquielynn Floyd's column from today's Dallas Morning News. An excerpt:
Fort Worth is a fine and tolerant city. The police officers I personally know over there are decent, stand-up people. But today, in the Twitter-and-blog-enabled process of rapid dissemination, they're getting an ugly reputation.
And the flames of indiscriminate opinion about Texas being a stagnant backwater of vicious, insular, hate-crazed xenophobes dance higher.
So, Fort Worth, we need some answers, please, and quickly.
This is no time to stonewall.

This is crazy. I apologize for not having time to read the whole story, but how can they be cracking down on public intoxication... at a bar? Isn't that the point? Or did they say they were looking for minors or whatnot? People were talking about it in NYC just dumbfounded (but most didn't think TX was all like that).
