Fort Worth Mayor Apologizes...Sorta

Mayor Mike Moncrief apologized for the Rainbow Lounge incident. At Monday's city council meeting, Moncrief announced that neither FWPD nor TABC had finished their investigations and that he had asked the U.S. Attorney to review their findings. Someone in the packed audience called out for an apology and the mayor said:

"If you want an apology from the mayor of Fort Worth: I am sorry about what happened in Fort Worth."

UPDATE: The mayor clarified that he meant to apologize for Chad Gibson's injuries, not for the raid.

Several gay activists demanded to be heard and they were escorted out of counsel chambers. Three hours later, Moncrief relented and allowed people to speak. People who were at the Rainbow Lounge on the night of the raid gave very different accounts from the police. Read it all here.

That would be like an abusive husband saying to the wife "I'm sorry for beating you with my fist honey, but you still deserved to get roughed about".

What kind of piss poor aplogy is that?
