FWPD Halts TABC Raids

Fort Worth police chief Halsted announced that his force would stop operations with TABC in light of the Rainbow Lounge raid. Todd Camp, founder of the Ft. Worth Q Cinema gay and lesbian film festival called it a good first step. He said "I'm glad to hear that both departments are conducting investigation. As a long-time resident of Fort Worth, I look forward to working with the police department to make sure something like this doesn't happen again."

Chief Halsted also said he'd appoint a liaison to the gay community and initiate diversity training for the force.

I would like to note that the Dallas Police Department has had a liaison to the gay community for years and has long provided diversity training for every recruit at the Dallas Police Academy. Chief Halsted seems to have just realized they have gay people in Fort Worth.
