Mad Men Mondays

The last episode! So much going on! Here are my thoughts (don't read further if you haven't see it yet):

Is Sal really gone forever? They keep teasing us with bits like Peggy's complaint that she doesn't have art because there's no art department. Bring Sal back to the new firm! Let's start a petition!

Thank God they found a new job for Joan. She should never have been sidelined.

No way Roger Sterling's marriage survives; Joan's either. Those two are meant for each other.

Either Betty doesn't go through with the divorce or she has a torrid post-divorce affair with Don.

I kind of wish they had chosen Ken over Paul. He's cuter and not such a dick. Decent gratuitous beefcake shot of Paul, though.

I suppose Duck is done.

Who among the left-overs at Sterling Cooper will stick around for next season?

What do you think?

Thoughts on your thoughts on "Mad Men":

I don't think Sal's gone forever but I actually don't want him to join the new agency. The whole episode felt a little too Up with People for my taste. Everyone getting along and working together to create something better! It felt a little fake.

I think Sal will be back but maybe at McCann Erikson (sp?) as Roger took the Lucky Strike account with him and Lee "Lusty" Jr. was the one on that account who try to get with Sal...

The fact that Joan came in there and basically made the new agency happen was fantastic! Girl knew where the materials were, ordered the moving men, and got the suite at the Pierre. Go Joan!

It's painfully obvs that Roger will leave Jane and Greg will die in war.

NO! Please just let Betty and Henry be! No more Betty and Don! B and D were horrible together, clearly hated each other and should forever be apart!

I am so mad that Ken was basically ignored all season! And I think that may be the first time "beefcake" and "Pete" were used in the same sentence!

I wouldn't be so sure about Duck because this new agency is so new that I'm sure Duck may want to swoop in and help out his Peggy.

I do think Kinsey is so gone but I hope Smitty and Gay Smitty stay!

As a side note, I love that Carla is basically gonna raise Bobby and Sally now and that Don can now screw around without doing anything wrong. Finally! Sorry, I kinda hate Don. No, I do hate Don.

Excellent analysis as always. Sal may very well return to the old Sterling Cooper/McCann Erikson. They will need people. Maybe he can work closely with Ken.

I have nothing really to add other than I nearly died when Joan said Sterling Cooper Draper Price.

Also, I'm really digging Trudy's Lady Macbeth.

I thought the season three finale was an excellent ending to a very ho-hum season. I thought the disintegration of Sterling Cooper was clever, and it, along with the founding of a new Sterling Cooper Draper Price, will let the show, in a way, begin again.

Don and Betty...so glad they are done, and I do believe they are forever cooked. I still look forward to how each will change.

Peggy...just loved it when she basically told Don to go scratch.

Peter...loved it that he played hard ball and won.

Joan...thank God she's back! IMHO, she is -- always has been, always will be -- the best character on the show. Junior's right: Dr. Greg will die in Vietnam, and Joanie will be a free agent.

Sal...surely, we cannot have seen the last of Our Sal, right? [By the way, Sam, did I tell you that I saw him twice in one day recently. I so wanted to ask him: "So, Bryan, are you kaput or on holiday from the show?"]

Yes! I know you saw him twice recently. I'm so jealous of your NYC celebrity sightings.

Caligula, I love your intellectual take on all this.
