It's so easy to poke fun of The Carpenters' Tricia-Nixon wholesomeness, but what a glorious voice Karen Carpenter had. Also, if we were to create the soundtrack of my life, I can assure you Karen and Richard would figure prominently on it.
Oh! Speaking of 70's Pop Culture, on my way to the ATM at the Westin on 43rd and Eighth this afternoon, who do you think I ran into? Danny Patridge (Bonaduce). The only reason I noticed him was because I saw a guy walking towards me wearing SHORTS, T-shirt, and an un-zipped windbreaker! What the...? I looked up to see what nutcase would wear shorts in this frigid weather, and it was Danny Bonaduce. Go figure.
I truly love Karen. I visit her grave often. I miss her so much.
OK, I'll 'fess up. I think she was incredibly talented and, like Doug, The Carpenters would definitely be on the soundtrack of my life. What a loss when she died at such a young age.
