New York Congressman Anthony Weiner today admitted that he did, in fact tweet a crotch shot to a young woman in Seattle. It turns out that he has sent naughty pics, emails, tweets, and phone calls to about six women over the past few years, and did not stop when he recently married. Professional slimeball Andrew Breitbart published the shirtless (and impressive) pics of the Congressman today and appears to have actually gotten one right, which really galls the shit out of me. Weiner announced that he is not resigning, which seems smart since his actions, though incredibly stupid and disloyal to his wife, pale in comparison to those of politicians like Vitter and Craig who stayed in office. If Weiner is telling the whole story (and why wouldn't he), he never actually met any of the women he e-flirted with. As political sex scandals go, this one's pretty flacid.* Here's the emotional Weiner's* statement:
So what do you think, New Yorkers? Has he derailed his chance to be mayor?
*Forgive me. At least I didn't go as far as Slog.

Weiner...I am disappointed in him. He could easily have been the next mayor or be the next Senator when Schumer steps down. So popular. Such a liberal. Such a ball-breaker. BUT while his sending photos isn't some big sin in my book, it is head-scratchingly stupid of him. If only I could comfort Congressman Dreamboat in his time of need. Sigh....
More than anything, what he did was stupid, stupid, stupid. The fact that he lied about doing it is the "wrong thing to do". I have lost all respect for him, but he will survive this stupid mess. I have only been blogging, facebooking, etc, for about three years and I have never had the urge to send one nude photo of myself to anyone.
What he did was stupid. Lying about it is much worse.
Oy... what a dick. I don't care that he did this, but clearly some do and when you enter public office, you're life is scrutinized.
On the plus side, it does make news a little more fun to watch.
Still my favorite story of the day is Sarah "I'm a pin head" Palin's comments about Paul Revere.
