Christopher Mayer: 1954-2011

Do you remember the replacement Duke Brothers, Coy and Vance, on The Dukes of Hazzard?  I sure do.  Gorgeous Christopher Mayer played Vance during the 1982-1983 season when John Schneider and Tom Wopat walked over a contract dispute.  Mayer went on to appear in the soap opera Santa Barbara for 180 episodes and made a number of TV and film appearances, his last in 2000.  I was sad to read that he died on June 24 of unnamed "natural causes" at the age of 57.  His fiance, Catherine Irvine, had this to say:

"I am very, very sad about his death. ... Chip was a troubled soul, but he had a hilarious sense of humor and a big heart."

That's sad...though I never heard of him. Sure was cute when he was younger...as was his blonde co-star. Too bad they didn't do an "art" film...or a "nudie" as Neely O'Hara called Jennifer's Parisian oeuvre.
