Legendary Dallas Cowboy and NFL Hall of Famer Michael Irvin has
come out on the cover of
Out as a full-on supporter of gay rights. His inspiration? His gay brother Vaughn.
Irvin wasn't just a great athlete who led the Cowboys to three Super Bowl victories, he was a big-time badass who always had a sexy woman on his arm.
This super-straight, badass football legend has a new mission in life, to eradicate homophobia. “I have to make sure we do things to bring people together. The Super Bowls will be the footnotes on my resume.” His spiritual advisor is Rev. T.D. Jakes of The Potter's House, a major mega church pastor who hasn't exactly been known as a supporter of the gays. Yet, he's led Irvin on a spiritual path that has caused him to take a very public stand against anti-gay bigotry. I believe this is a huge deal.
Finally, if I can be shallow for a moment, Michael Irvin retired from professional sports twelve years ago but damn, he's looking good. He sure didn't let himself go. How many pro athletes could carry off
