Wilma Flintstone Smokes Like a Lady

That is so fabulous...a cig ad on a kid's cartoon show! I actually remember that tagline: "It tastes good like a cigarette should."

For the record: I was never much into the kid TV shows. Even as a pre-adolescent F.I.T.(Fag In Training), I would forego Hanna-Barbera and that cartoonish fluff for, say, old Warner Bros. movies on Channel 7's (Evansville, IN) Afternoon Matinee. That is how I was introduced to Bette, Marilyn, Judy, Bogart, Hitchcock, Garbo, Hepburn (both Katharine and Audrey), the Marx Brothers, Cary Grant, and, of course, all of those wonderful Hollywood musicals.

That said, there were two kiddie shows I enjoyed: "The Flintstones" and "Jonny Quest." The latter makes total sense for a Wee DB as it may be the gayest kid show ever. Four males and a darling dog: Yummy All-American Jonny, his mocha-colored friend Hadji, and that scrumptious Daddy Duo, Dr. Benton Quest and his pilot/bodyguard (wink!) Race Bannon. It's quite possible those cartoons fueled my love of both Daddies and swarthy Middle Eastern men. I'm just sayin'....
