Belgium Gets Openly Gay PM

This is Elio Di Rupo, the new Prime Minister of Belgium who is also openly gay.  He is the world's second openly gay head of government (the Belgian King is head of state) after Iceland's Prime Minister Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir. He is a socialist and the first French speaking Belgian PM since 1979.  In 1996, journalists demanded to know if Di Rupo was gay and his response was "yeah, so?"  Apparently, Belgians don't care.

Wow. The big news about him here in France is that he's Francophone. I haven't heard one single word on the news about him being gay. It's obviously not an issue. The world is certainly changing.
