Barbie was born on this day in 1959 which makes her about 21, unless she's an Army officer or astronaut, then she's about 26. Be sure and wear a little pink today and remember, it's Barbie's world. We just live in it.

You missed Melanie Daniels ('Tippi' Hedren) Barbie, from Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds". I kid you not. Compete with three plastic crows clinging to her hair and pale green suit (with brown leather handbag and matching pumps).

Happy 53rd Birthday, Barbie! Of course, I had no interest in Barbie as a wee lad in Southern Illinois. Nope. Not me. Zero interest. Nor siree Bob. Too busy playing football and emulating Peter Brady.
