--Andrew Rannells on his character in his new TV series Girls. Like Jim Parsons, Matt Bomer, and Ricky Martin, it's not exactly a shock to learn that Rannells is gay. He's a musical comedy star who took his boyfriend to the Tonys, after all. But, it's significant that he's yet another handsome, rising young star who sees no reason to hide in the closet.

Quote of The Day
"I am gay in real life, so I definitely get it. But it's not my story -- I wasn't closeted for any amount of time. I never had a girlfriend who I had that experience with."

He's a musical comedy star who took his boyfriend to the Tonys, after all. But, it's significant that he's yet another handsome, rising young star who sees no reason to hide in the closet.

I think I told you my Andrew Rannells story. About this time last year..right before the Tony Awards...I was walking home from the gym. At the corner of Ninth and 43rd, a child's ball rolled from a stroller out into the intersection. Smack dab in the middle. AR just happened to be standing at the light. He stopped traffic and went out and retreived the ball for the child. Sweet. I used to see him often in that same area...Ninth in the mid-40's. But I've not seen him in a long time...perhaps he moved...?
