Miss Rhode Island Wins Miss USA

The girl from the smallest state took the biggest prize as Miss Rhode Island won last night's Miss USA crown.  Olivia Culpo, who wore a relatively demure gown as opposed to some of the other ultra sexy numbers, answered the inevitable question about whether or not transgender contestants should be allowed to compete.  She said:

"I do not think that would be fair but I can understand that people would be a little apprehensive to take that road because there is a tradition of natural born women, but today where there are so many surgeries and so many people out there who have a need to change for a happier life, I do accept that because I believe it's a free country."

A more detailed pageant report will follow.

Well, I just watched. She wouldn't have made my top 15. I thought the two most beautiful...in an over-the-top, drag-queen, pageanty way...were Nevada and, my fave, Maryland. Looking forward to your coverage.
