Is This Necessary?
When you mess with something as beloved as The Wizard of Oz, the results are either be amazing or amazingly bad. My first impression is that they've created a bunch of unnecessary new creatures and amped up the flying monkeys to make them more comic book scary. The first rule of this film should have been don't mess with the flying monkeys. Also, I really don't know about Mila Kunis as the before-she-went-bad Wicked Witch of the West. I can't see her aging into Margaret Hamilton, can you?

But if you didn't mess with it then you would't have Wicked unless that would be okay with you?
Also, the original book the movie was based on was really written in code as a protest to the power and politics of the day. I forget the specifics but it was controversial.
