Inaugural Diva Sing-Off
You have to admit, this was the gayest inaugural of all time. There was "Seneca Falls and Selma and Stonewall." There was gay poet Richard Blanco. There was Michelle's Thom Browne coat. There was the total lack gay-hating preachers. And finally there was the dueling divas:
I have to give it up to Beyonce. Frankly, I have no idea what Kelly Clarkson was trying toscreech sing. Beyonce whipped out her earpiece and nailed it.

I thought just the opposite. Kelly was great and Beyonce not so much (it was a much harder song). I just didn't like Beyonce's phrasing or style of the song, her emphasis was always in strange places. But it was nice to hear her voice again.
Happy day!!
I thought Kelly was OK, and Beyonce better. But as Beyonce sang, all I could think of was: "She sure can't do it the way Miss Whitney Houston did it the Super Bowl way back when." Musically, I thought the choir was the highlight.
I think Kelly is the better singer while Beyonce is the better entertainer. Like Doug, I thought the choir stole the show.
P.S. Interestingly, no one mentions James Taylor. To be honest, I never got him. I am sure he's a nice guy. But when it comes to singing...there are probably a dozen guys on my block who could out-sing JT.
I'm truly surprised that some enterprising YouTube-ist hasn't replaced Miss B's song with 'Put a Ring on It'. (Easy enough to do, as she kept that microphone strategically between the camera and her mouth the whole song. Very savvy girl, if indeed she w a s lip-syncing.)
