Monday's Man: Richard Blanco

What could be more appropriate on this inauguration day than the poet chosen by President Obama to compose and read a poem at the ceremony, Richard Blanco?  Blanco is the first openly gay and first Latino poet chosen for this honor and, if I may be shallow for a moment, totally cute:

Richard Blanco is 44, which makes him the youngest poet chosen to be the inaugural  poet.  Of course since he's gay, he could pass for 34.

Blanco likes to say that he was conceived in Cuba, born in Spain, and raised in New York and Miami.  He currently lives in Maine with his partner.

Here is Blanco reading one of his favorite poems, "El Florida."

You have leave to be shallow. 'Cause you're totally right!
